Questions about the Nepali calendar

Tithi, calendars and dates, explained.

More information
What is the date today in Nepal?

Trisambat opens on today’s date in Bikram Sambat, Nepal Sambat and the Gregorian calendar, using Nepal time (UTC+5:45) wherever you are. Today is outlined in the calendar, and the panel beside it shows the tithi, sunrise and sunset.

How do I convert a BS date to AD?

Use the date converter beside the calendar: choose BS, NS or AD, enter the date and press Convert. Bikram Sambat runs about 56 years and 8 months ahead of the Gregorian calendar, but the length of each BS month changes from year to year, so dates must be converted with a table, not a fixed offset.

What is Nepal Sambat?

Nepal Sambat is Nepal’s own lunar calendar, recognised by the Government of Nepal as a national calendar. Its new year, Kachhalā Pāru, falls the day after Lakshmi Puja during Tihar. Trisambat shows the Nepal Sambat date and tithi for every day.

How is the rashifal calculated?

Each daily, weekly and yearly rashifal is calculated from where the planets actually are, read with the traditional gochar rules for your Moon sign (rashi). The wording is Trisambat’s own.

Is Trisambat an official calendar?

No. Bikram Sambat dates come from a verified table and public holidays from Government of Nepal lists, but for legal, official or religious purposes, confirm dates with the official Panchanga.
